Roosters Tie in Fiesty Game vs Pylons

SEPTEMBER 30, 2020: The Roosters came out of last night's game with a 3-3 tie with the Superior Auto Body Pylons, in what was a very heated affair.

The Roosters struck first with Steffen rushing the puck down the ice and getting one past Pylons goaltender Gillespie over the glove halfway through the first. As the period was nearing a close, Hope got his stick up high on Peter Tahn who lifted Hope's stick up into his own face for a fairly weak call. Eshelby turned aside both penalty shots on the double minor as the period drew to a close.

The Pylons tied it up right off the start of the second as Lukash came down the wing and put one up high past Eshelby. Immediately following the goal, things started getting chippy. After lots of missed calls both ways, Hope and Peterson got into a tangle in the corner where Hope picked up a call for body contact after he was the one hit into the corner. Regardless, both goaltenders set aside the penalty shots. As the period went on, The Pylons got called for two tripping penalties on captain John Contreras who sniped two past Gillespie blocker side on the penalty shots. Gassed and not being able to get off the ice for a change resulted in two quick, late goals from Tornberg and Lukash to tie the game up at three under four to play. Delorme picked up a tripping call on a questionable dive by Pylons forward Beaubien with just over a minute to play, but Eshelby came up with the huge pad save to keep it at three. After rushing down and keeping the pressure on for the remaining time in the game, a bouncing puck made its way past Steffen and Contreras as Legault rushed down the ice for one last opportunity and a chance to win the game. With just a mere nine seconds left, Eshelby came up with the clutch glove save to pick up the tie.

TEAM HIGHLIGHTS:

- John Contreras picked up two goals on the night, both via penalty shots.

- Ty Steffen added a goal to continue his point streak from last season.

- Eshelby stopped 33/36 on the night, including 5/5 on penalty shots.

Next game is Monday night as the Roosters take on the 2-0-0 Blue Devils to battle for the division lead with puck drop at 6:30PM at Jemini Arena!
