NOVEMBER 24, 2020: The Roosters were able to squeeze a win out last night against AWD.
The game started off with a goal from Taylor Unick who picked up his seventh of the season just 2 minutes into the game. Tyson Lefebvre was able to get a shot through and past Eshelby to tie it up six minutes later, before AWD took the lead three minutes later on a cross-crease pass that found its way to Alex Li. Contreras was able to get one back and tie things up, but Alex Smith got past the defence and was able beat Eshelby on a knuckle puck to leapfrog in front yet again. Steffen would put the puck past Robinson a few minutes before the period ended to tie it at three heading into the second period.
Lefebvre got the lead back once again for AWD early before AWD iced the puck on their next possession. As the puck got fed down to Contreras in the offensive zone, as the rules allow, the referee blew down the play for an icing on the Roosters. The call was indeed a mistake and the Rooster bench let him know it, which aggravated the referee a tad as on the next play, Unick was called for a very weak tripping call which Eshelby set aside. A few minutes later, Hope got called for interference on a play where both Hope and Smith just ran into each other. Unfortunately, Smith converted on the ensuing penalty shot and gave AWD a two goal cushion. Contreras made that two goal cushion disappear even faster than they got it with two quick goals under twenty seconds a part to tie it up at five with over half a period to play and to give him the hat trick. Regnier gave the Roosters the lead on a nice goal and could have possibly been the game winner if Montgrand wasn't able to tie it on a fluky low shot a few minutes later. AWD kept the pressure on late once again, but Steffen had the chance for one last end-to-end rush as he sliced through the defence and was able to put home his second of the game and the what would end up being the game winner with just five seconds left in the game. As the buzzer sounded, the Roosters came out on top by a final score of 7-6.
