NOVEMBER 16, 2020: The Roosters took on the Blue Devils in back-to-back games last night after the Pylons were unable to get enough players for the game. The Pylons have will now have one less game at season's end compared to the other teams, while the Blue Devils will have an extra game.
The game started off with an early goal from one of the newest members of the team, Cody Thompson who buried one after goaltender Chris Perkins misplayed the puck right to Thompson. After some back-and-forth action, the Blue Devils were able to put two past Eshelby as Unrau and Weiss scored on some nice passing plays. James Low was given a penalty shot after drawing an interference call, but he wasn't able to bury it. Harrison Hope also got hauled down coming into the zone and was awarded a penalty shot. Hope beat Perkins, but not his glove. After a great deke to fake out the goaltender, Perkins was able to reach his glove back on the goal line to keep the game at 2-1 heading into the second period.
The second period got off to a hot start with the Roosters putting on the pressure and seven minutes in, Contreras got a shot past Perkins to tie it up at two. After some big saves at the Blue Devils end, Eshelby made some huge ones as well, including a 2-on-0 save. As Weiss feed it back door to Unrau, Eshelby was able to just get his toe on the puck to keep it out and the game tied. Just minutes later, after a bit of tussling in front of the Roosters net, Harrison Hope gave Dion a good hit to the back which ultimately landed him a 5 minute major. The two went at it for a bit before being broken up. While Dion should've taken the penalty shot awarded to the Blue Devils, Walker ended up taking it and scoring as Eshelby lost an edge making it 3-2 Blue Devils. Mooney added another with under five to play in the game, but the Roosters stormed back. Thompson was able to get one past Perkins to make it 4-3 with under two minutes to play, and Delorme tied it with under a minute to play all without being able to pull the goaltender for an extra attacker. Regnier had a chance to win it with less than 30 seconds left, but just put it wide on a sprawling Blue Devils goaltender. At the sound of the buzzer, final score was Roosters 4, Blue Devils 4.
TEAM HIGHLIGHTS:
- Thompson scored 2 goals in his Roosters debut.
- Contreras and Delorme each added goals for the Roosters.
- Contreras, Delorme and Saxton each picked up assists on the night.
- Eshelby stopped 18/22 in the tie.
