AUGUST 9TH, 2020: The Roosters have dropped three in a row now, and have fallen to 1-4-0 on the season after a 6-3 loss to the Bandits on Sunday night.
The game saw the Roosters take an early 2-0 lead thanks to goals from Steffen and Delorme. The lead was short-lived though as the Bandits scored one 15 seconds after and added another three to end the first period. The Bandits kept their foot on the gas and added another two late in the second and the game, and Steffen scored another with a minute to play but it was too little, too late. Bandits leading goal scorer Ryan Zimmerman scored his 10th goal on the season after a four goal night for him. Smallwood stopped 27/30 in the win, while Eshelby steered aside 30/36 in the loss.
The game became very heated in the second after play was blown down after two Bandits players collided with each other behind the Roosters net, and the Roosters had a 3 on 1 opportunity shut down. Mere minutes later, Contreras was struck with a puck in the side of the head and play was not blown down which led to the Bandits fifth goal of the game. The Bandits also got away with a goalie interference call after Eshelby was run into by Clarke. The Bandits scored on the play and it was waved off, but no call was made. The Bandits also played fairly physical which did not warrant them with very few penalties somehow. Overall, the Roosters have debatably had quite a few calls not go their way the last few games, but the team needs to get past that and figure out a way to win.
POTG: Ty Steffen gets POTG honours after a two goal performance, and taking sole possession of the top spot in team scoring.
The Roosters play their next game on August 17th against the Doug and the Slugs @ Jemini Arena with puck drop at 9:45pm CST.
