AUGUST 17TH, 2020: The Roosters have dropped four in a row following tonight's 6-4 loss to Doug and the Slugs Monday night, and have fallen to 1-5-0 on the season.
The game saw the Roosters down 2-0 early, but Unick and Contreras got the game tied at three a piece early in the second. The tie was short-lived though as Doug and the Slugs Noah Cranford snuck one past Eshelby to re-take the lead.
Mere minutes following the goal after Steffen had to leave the ice after taking a shot to the side of the knee, Steffen got smoked by an intentional slapshot from Doug and the Slugs forward Adlai Muench. The shot took Steffen out of the game after his visor broke from the shot and left Steffen with a minor injury to his forehead. Luckily it was not anything serious, but things got out of hand after that and rightfully so. Muench scored on a 2-on-1 opportunity and celebrated a little too hard by the Rooster bench, and the game got fairly chippy after that as the Slugs added another for insurance a couple minutes later. Unick scored late to make it a two goal game and give himself a hat trick, but it was too little, too late. Evenson stopped 17/21 in the win, while Eshelby, who made a spectacular scorpion save which was immediately followed by a diving stick save to keep the game close near the end, stopped 35/41 in the loss.
It is safe to say the rivalry is officially on, and it is probably a good thing the Roosters don't play them anymore this season as the next game would likely be pretty chippy.
POTG: Taylor Unick gets POTG honours after a hat trick, bumping him up to third in team scoring.
The Roosters play their next game on August 27th against the still undefeated Bang Gang @ Jemini Arena with puck drop at 9:45pm CST.
