GAME PREVIEW: September 24th, 2020 vs AWD

SEPTEMBER 21ST, 2020: The 2020 ASHL Fall season has officially begun in Saskatoon today, however, the 24th is a much more important day. This Thursday night is the season opener for the Saskatoon Roosters, a team very much looking to improve on its division low 1-7 record this past summer as they take on Another Worldly Device.

The Roosters have brought up James Low and signed Rylie Regnier for this season and according to to team GM and goaltender Brandon Eshelby, they have a good gameplan and mindset coming into this season versus this past summer.

"Obviously this summer was a bit disappointing. We were in it for almost every game, but we let off the gas on defence often late in games leaving any chance of a comeback nothing short of a miracle. Even with all the losses, we definitely got better as a team as the season went on for sure and so did our chemistry. I think the biggest thing we needed was a proper game plan, being able to execute it and getting in the right mindset before the game. We all worked on getting all that set up back a few weeks ago and I think it's gonna work much better and result in winning some hockey games."

Eshelby also talked about the new additions to the roster, Low and Regnier:

"James and Rylie are definitely huge additions to the team. I think both guys are gonna help out tremendously on offence once their legs get going as they both haven't seen game action in long time. Hopefully they can take a bit of the offensive load off of our top guys every night."

Eshelby also added his thoughts heading into the first game of the season and taking on Another Worldly Device:

"Oh I'm super pumped for the game. I think everyone is itching to get back out there for sure. While I believe these guys are a new team in the league, I don't know anyone on the team to confirm whether that's true or not so we just gotta come out of the gates ready to go and see from there. Maybe have a few pre game beers in the parking lot too just to loosen up a bit."

Game time is set for 7pm at Jemini Arena this Thursday night. Unfortunately, no spectators are allowed for the time being but we appreciate everyone's support from at home or wherever you are!
