OCTOBER 2ND, 2020: The Roosters are off to a great start to the 2020 Fall campaign after picking up a win and tie in their first two games, already beating their inaugural season record just two games in. The Blue Devils are also off to a hot start with two big wins in their first two games of the season heading into Monday's matchup.
The Roosters have played well in their first two games much due in part to the team chemistry and having a much more solid game plan. Captain John Contreras continues to lead the team on offensive with five goals in two games, and is tied for the team lead in points with Taylor Unick who has four goals and an assist in the one game he's played so far this season. On the defensive end, Kenyi and Steffen have played well, but also have played well on the offensive end too with three and two points each respectively so far this season in two games played each. Goaltender Brandon Eshelby leads the division with a 3.00 GAA and .897 save percentage through the first two games, only trailing in wins by one.
The Blue Devils are certainly one of the teams to beat in the division so far this season. Braeden Fiske currently leads the entire league in points per game with 5.5, and is second in goals per game with 4.5. The Blue Devils are the highest scoring team in the division with twenty in two games, while the Roosters have just twelve, which is second in the division. Blue Devils goaltender Chris Perkins trails only Eshelby in GAA at 5.00, and save percentage at .828, but holds the lead in wins with two.
Monday's matchup is a big one as the winner takes (or maintains) the division lead.
Game time is set for 6:30pm Monday at Jemini Arena. Spectators are allowed in the facility now, but we are still limiting spectators to just friends and family of the team at the moment as each spectator must come in with one of the players on the team.
