AUGUST 9TH, 2020: It's time for some Cocky Hockey!
The Roosters (1-3-0) will take on the Bandits (2-2-0) for their second meeting of the season. The Roosters are coming off of loss back on the 4th against the Bang Gang by a final score of 7-3. The Bang Gang are off to a hot start, and are the only undefeated team remaining in the division and showed that last game by extending their streak. The Bandits picked up their second win of the season earlier this week with a high-scoring 9-8 win over Doug and the Slugs.
The Roosters were led last game by goaltender Brandon Eshelby once again who has played well since the first meeting of the season against the Bang Gang. Steffen and Contreras each tallied a goal last game and lead the team in scoring, and Adam Saxton picked up his first career ASHL goal in the loss. Unick, Saxton, and Rahman are all out of the lineup tonight, so the bench will be short for the first time this season. Eshelby will be in goal again tonight.
The Bandits are second in the division after their win last game, but the Roosters can move into second with a win tonight. Zachary McGrath led the scoring last game for the Bandits with 3, and leads the team in points at 7. Owen Smallwood is posting a 6.20 GAA and .815 SV%. Eshelby has the edge with a .832 SV% and GAA of 5.75.
The Roosters will need a good performance all around once again, especially offensively as the Roosters have only scored more than 3 goals once this season, and that was in the first meeting with the Bandits.
Game time is set for 9:00pm tonight at Jemini Arena.
