AUGUST 30TH, 2020: Get ready for the final Roosters game day of the 2020 summer season with another game preview!
The Roosters (1-6-0) will take on the Bandits (3-4-0) for the third and final time this season tonight. The Roosters are coming off of a fifth straight loss back on Thursday night to the undefeated Bang Gang. The Bandits are coming off a loss on Thursday to Doug and the Slugs.
The Roosters are still being led by assistant captain Ty Steffen who has 7 goals and 2 assists (9th in division points) in 6 games this season, and captain John Contreras is also not far behind with 7 goals and 1 assist (10th in division points) in 6 games as well. Brandon Eshelby currently sits 3rd in the division in both SV% and GAA at .823 and 6.29 respectively.
The Bandits are being led offensively by Ryley Zimmerman who leads the team in goals with 11 and in points with 12, good enough for 5th in the division. The team has been backstopped by Owen Smallwood who overtook Eshelby after last game statistically, sits 2nd in the division in both SV% and GAA at .826 and 5.85 respectively.
The Roosters will need a strong performance on the defensive end as the Bang Gang lit the lamp again no problem last game, but offensive is crucial. The team has only scored more than 3 goals in 2/7 games this season, with the first of those games being the only win on the season.
The Bandits need to play good defensively; if they prevent the Roosters from scoring more than 3 goals tonight, they stand a good chance of taking home a win from a hungry Roosters squad who needs this win more than ever.
Game time is set for 8:30pm tonight at Jemini Arena.
